Detailed explanation of common expression forms of brand logo design

1. A little retro.
It is worth mentioning that the element of minimalist design style is not a new thing. It has actually appeared a long time ago. In a sense, it is part of the retro element. If you add some retro elements when designing the LOGO, you will find that retro and minimalist have a natural fit in a sense.
Retro minimalism tends to use simple fonts and simple lines, such as circular structure and edge text. Thin lines and strokes are the most common features of this type of logo design.
If you add a slightly retro color matching, such as the head office full of 1980s style or bold neon color matching, the texture of the whole design will become more obvious. The advantage of the retro minimalist style is that the concept can be selected by yourself, and you can draw nutrition from the design of different ages. If you are good at handwork, it is not impossible to use the design style more than 100 years ago.
2. Focus on geometry.
Geometry is recognizable in nature. When designing LOGO, you can start with the most basic circles, triangles and rectangles, and select one or several graphics as the basis.
·Circle/ring: A ring is a typical example of no beginning and no end. It itself contains the meaning of movement. Rings and circles are usually associated with women and have the meaning of love, energy and power. They are also often given the meaning of infinite and harmonious.
·Square: is the most common shape, often giving people the meaning of equality and regularity. It is synonymous with stability and trust, but at the same time, because of its universality, it can also be seen as a representative of boredom and mediocrity.
·Triangle: Triangle mainly contains the meaning of stability, strength and energy, but it also has the emotional characteristics of conflict, tension and anxiety, but this is usually the feeling when the sharp corner of the triangle is downward.
·Cross: The cross symbolizes religion, but also carries the meaning of health, hope and balance.
3. Don't over-beautify.
This is probably the most important suggestion so far. When we design a minimalist LOGO, don't beautify it too much.
There are many ways to create a minimal but creative logo, but when you start to "beautify" it, minimalist aesthetics will be destroyed. In the design process, you should even take the opposite approach: after completing the basic design, you must constantly compare the sketches and try to extract more elements from them, so as to achieve the goal of "minimalism".
You should try to design from a plane idea and create a clear design, simple and intuitive, without redundant information. Someone once suggested me that "a really simple design should be a design that can be sketched on the manuscript paper. If you can leave the pen on the paper during the design process, the design should be really simple.".
Although its suggestions are not always effective, it is a good start in the end. Even just borrowing this idea to simplify the design is quite effective.
